Family Tree Magazine's Top 40 Genealogy Blogs for 2011
Today, I was very pleased to learn that The Scottish Emigration Blog was nominated in not one, but two, categories in the Family Tree Magazine 40 Best Genealogy Blogs for 2011. I feel like an Oscar nominated movie! While it would be silly to thank the Academy, it truly is an honor to be in the company of so many other great blogs.
The Scottish Emigration Blog was nominated in the best "new" blog and best "heritage" blog categories. I am in good company in the latter, as Scottish GENES and a’spaidsearachd agus a’meòrachadhhis, both familiar to readers of this blog, were nominated as well. Of the sixteen blogs nominated in the "heritage" category three are focused on Scottish research and another three on Irish which is suggestive of the continuing importance of the diasporas from these nations.
The official announcement from Family Tree Magazine is here. Thomas MacEntee of Geneabloggers has compiled a useful list of all the nominated blogs and their URLs. Voting is open until December 20th, vote as often as you like here.
The five winners in each of the eight categories will be announced in the July 2011 issue of Family Tree Magazine. The Top 40 Genealogy Blogs of 2011 may not be a glamorous as the Oscars, but it sure is fun.
