Three talks on the Historical Ties Between Scotland and Canada will be given on 27 January 2011 at 5:30pm in the Senate Room, Gilbert Scott Building, University of Glasgow. There will be a reception afterwards with music provided by the Beaton Sisters of Nova Scotia.
The scheduled speakers are Mr. James R. Wright, the High Commissioner for Canada and Professor Ted Cowan, Emeritus Professor of Scottish History, and Dr. Lizanne Henderson, Lecturer in History, both of University of Glasgow.
Ted, my dissertation supervisor, and Lizanne, a colleague from graduate school, are both excellent speakers and worth listening to. Samples of the Beaton Sisters music can be found here and here. It should be a good evening. Wish I could be there....
